Latvian Artists' Series - "The Festive Table"

The Festive Table (1941) by artists Ādolfs Zārdiņš (1890-1967)

Ādolfs Zārdiņš worldview was formed in the 1900‘s by the urban and cosmopolitan culture of Rīga, which had touches of Symbolism and Art Nouveau.

Rejected by the Soviet artistic dogma, he spent 40 years of his life in solitude and destitution, with his art witnessed only by the lifeless attic at his Jūrmala home.

After Latvia’s independence in 1991, his art was accidentally discovered by his relatives.
